ゼミ紹介　異文化理解を通じて真理を追究する

この１０年間、ビジネスや観光など様々な交流を通じて国内外のあらゆる分野で国際化が大幅に進みました。文化の理解と異文化コミュニケーションは異なる文化的背景をもつ人々とやり取りする場合に欠かせないものになっています。
Benthienゼミでは日常生活や交流イベントなどを通じてフィールドワークを行い、異文化コミュニケーションの過程を理解するとともに異文化間の対立を分析するなど、異文化受容に対する感覚を養成します。

イギリス留学を通じて感じた驚きや身の周りの国際化について、このゼミで更に理解を深められるでしょう。
「地理」、「文化」、「独自性」、「固定概念」、「口述･非口述コミュニケーション」、「時間に対する概念」、「スキンシップと対人間距離」、「価値観」、「ホフステードの４次元」など広範な研究対象から異文化理解の糸口を掴んでください。

Intercultural Communication Seminar Gaby Benthien

The frequency and widespread occurrence of international relations on the international and domestic stage through work, business, tourism and exchanges has substantially increased over the past decade. Cultural awareness and the process of intercultural communication are essential skills required by anyone interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds for work or social reasons.
This seminar aims to raise consciousness and develop the understanding of the intercultural communication process, enhance analytical skills for examining and deconstructing intercultural encounters and foster and increase intercultural competence. Furthermore, this seminar aims to improve general English skills by utilizing English texts and culminates with a graduation thesis which, ideally, will be written in English..
Topics studied include: World geography, culture, identity, stereotypes, verbal and non-verbal communication, perspectives related to time, touch and space, values, and Hofstede’s dimensions of culture.
Assessment is based on ‘Fieldwork’ in which students are asked to make observations in common settings like trains and café’s, attend international events like festivals, interviews, news searches and so on.
